JANUARY
New editions of HORRIBLE SCIENCE books on sale this month. Nick is working on new book series – tap, tap, tap – that’s the sound effect of Nick writing them!
FEBRUARY
Nick is working on six more HORRIBLE SCIENCE new editions this month. No rest for the wicked!
MARCH
Tuesday 5th March – Nick Arnold at Cotswold Academy, Bourton-on-the-Water. NICK SAYS: What a lovely town and a lovely school to go with it!
Tuesday 6th March – Nick Arnold at St. John’s School, Marlborough. NICK SAYS: I got a sore wrist and nearly missed my lunch because I signed so many books and I loved every minute of it! Great to meet you all!
Saturday 15th March – Nick Arnold is guest of honour and speaker at Bideford Manor Court, Bideford Town Hall, Devon. NICK SAYS: I got my photo taken with the Mayor and met the MP and felt like a VIP – everyone loved my quirky talk!
APRIL
Tuesday 3rd April – Nick Arnold at Park Hill Junior School, Croydon. NICK SAYS: A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO MADE US SO WELCOME AT YOUR SCHOOL! I Hope you are enjoying your ‘Hoooorrible Science’ books!
Monday 28th April – 7.30 pm, Nick Arnold talks about the History of Appledore at Appledore Library, Appledore, Devon. NICK SAYS: The event sold out and everyone loved it … especially the gory bits!!!!
MAY
A big THANK YOU to Luke, Dylan, Alfie, William and Finlay who spent a whole month designing loads of amazing HORRIBLE SCIENCE book covers. Thanks for sending them guys!
JUNE
Nick Arnold campaigns to save Devon libraries from closure. NICK SAYS: In 2006 I saved Appledore Library from closing so I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to keeping libraries open. I think that reading is like breathing – it’s something everyone’s got a right to do!
Saturday 7th June – Nick Arnold reads a paper on his latest historical discovery to the Devonshire Association Conference, Barnstaple. NICK SAYS: The audience were all adults but they loved my talk! That’s made up my mind – I am going to offer history talks for schools too!
Wednesday 11th June – Nick Arnold at Wicor School, Portchester near Portsmouth. NICK SAYS: This school is a wonderful place to learn. You all made me feel so happy and welcome that I didn’t want to go home! I’m glad you enjoyed the show!
Saturday 28th June – Nick Arnold Horrible Science Best Bits Show at Lancashire Science Festival, Preston at 12.40 pm. NICKS SAYS: This is an amazing Festival – and my show was a HUGE HIT! Thanks for inviting me!
JULY
Thursday 10th July – Nick Arnold at Garrick Theatre, Lichfield for schools event at Lichfield Book Festival. NICK SAYS: It’s going to be big and loud and funny so get your laughing gear ready – you’ll need it!
SEPTEMBER
Friday 26th September – Sunday 5th October – Appledore Book Festival. NICK SAYS: I’m very proud to be patron and founder of this brilliant book festival, which is going from strength to strength!
Tuesday 30th September – Nick Arnold at Henley Literary Festival for Schools Event. NICK SAYS: Henley is a hot bed of Horrible Science humour – thanks for all your letters saying how much you loved the show!
OCTOBER
Nick Arnold helps Devon County Council following this summer’s consultation (see June). Thanks to pressure by Nick Arnold and lots of other people in Devon no library is to close and all librarians are to keep their jobs. Nick is interviewed by the media. NICK SAYS: If people want libraries and support libraries there is no reason on Earth to close libraries.
Wednesday 15th October – Nick Arnold at St Paul’s Way Trust School, Tower Hamlets. NICK SAYS: My head is still reeling from all the brilliant Science questions you asked me. Thanks to all of you and your super-science teacher Mr Langley!
Friday 24th October – Nick Arnold presents Horrible Science School Show at North Cornwall Book Festival, Trebitherick. NICK SAYS: This is a Festival with character – in fact quite a few characters and all of them lovely. Thanks for inviting me!
Wednesday 29th October – Nick Arnold at Bexleyheath Central Library for The Beastly Creatures Show. NICK SAYS: I am sure there’s a law about bringing so much Horrible Science into a Library but I think I got away with it. Thanks for a horribly fun time!
COMING UP In 2015
Tuesday 30th June – Nick Arnold at the Norfolk Children’s Book Festival, Norwich. NICK SAYS: I know it’s next year but I’ve heard lots of people are looking forward to it already!
